YouTuber Ask A Mortician delves into the complicated case of “Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t Jesse James”?

The Perfect Western

If there ever was the quintessential western, it has to be this one. Run out and rent Once Upon A Time In The West. It's a 1968 Sergio Leone classic, starring Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Charles Bronson. It's 2 hours 45 minutes long, and well worth the time. I've seen a lot of westerns, some of the best multiple times — The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, The Magnificent Seven, A Fistful of Dollars, Tombstone, Stagecoach, Hud, Rio Grande… this one takes the cake. Long scenes with no dialogue, punctuated by only a squeaky water pump, or the singing of cicadas. Huge close-ups, juxtaposed against enormous landscapes. Haunting music. A little hoakey at times, which just adds to the charm. Brilliant cinematography. Apparently it's a tribute – there are numerous references to classic John Ford westerns, for those who know how to recognize them.
