An Alabama high school principal created a parody video of the 1990 MC Hammer classic “Can’t Touch This” to encourage students to stay healthy at school this year. Dr. Quentin Lee, principal at Childersburg High School, wrote the rap himself, including lyrics like “COVID! Is stressing me, all the updates from the CDC. Lysol! Can’t be found, I’ve looked all around this town.” He told Alabama News Center he wrote the lyrics in 15 minutes, then called film director Jaylen Mitchell of City Vizualz to record it. Volunteers included several students, and teacher Jessica Veazey.

Just listen to this sweet man’s voice tremble as he repeatedly asks his donkey, “Que pasa?” The entire video is in Spanish but honestly, it doesn’t matter if you know the language, this whole scene is universal. According to the Spanish radio station Cope, the man’s name is Ismael Fernández and he lives in Malaga, Spain. He was recently allowed to move about the region again after reportedly being locked down for two months — his first move to visit Baldomera, the beloved donkey who was being cared for by Fernández’s sister. Watch as the man pats and rubs Baldomera’s head. Listen to the tears start to flow. Then, oh man, the good little burra honks and brays with affection. It’s heart-warming and weirdly moving.

RaisingHeller of the Heller family says, “Solitary confinement does strange things to the best of us and this quarantine was really having an effect. My wife texted me and said, “we need to remake a music video.” I thought that sounded like a lot of work, but her persistence paid off and here we are. Enjoy!”
