The hour record for cycling is very simple. It’s just one rider going as far as possible for one hour. WIRED’s Robbie Gonzalez explores the physical power needed to push for 60 minutes and the equipment and track choices that can make or break the record.

Cyclist Steve Storey recorded an exciting downhill mountain bike ride using a stabilized GoPro camera for a smooth and beautiful video of his run. Storey spent more than two years working on the line he rides in the video.

Backwards Brain Bicycle Challenge

Destin of SmarterEveryDay challenged his friend Mike Boyd, who specializes in learning stuff really fast, to see how long it takes him to ride the Backwards Brain Bicycle for 50 meters.

Cyclist Primož Ravnik rode down the incredibly steep wall of a dam in Žirovnica, Slovenia and filmed the incredible ride with a helmet-mounted GoPro. The video was submitted as part of the GoPro of the World Best Line Contest, which is offering $20,000 to one winner who submits the most impressive unedited bike clip shot with a GoPro.

Polish mountain bike free rider Szymon Godziek perfectly executed a stunning “tsunami flip” during the Red Bull District Ride 2014 competition in Nuremberg, Germany. The run is believe to be the first time the trick has been successfully landed during competition.
