ArcAttack performing a Tesla Coil version of Iron Man by Black Sabbath. The Guitar Player is using an iron guitar in a faraday cage. ArcAttack is testing out the world’s first lightning-proof MIDI guitar in their warehouse in Austin, Texas. The MIDI signal from the guitar is routed through a fiber optic cable to control the Tesla coils.

This was awesome, and a little scary! I was wondering what the spooky tall guy in the suit was doing behind the guitarist—he reminds me of Moltar from Space Ghost. (Geek moment.)
On the second view of this video I watched the guy’s shadow. Another eerie feature.

I think he was trying to “catch” the discharges and play around with them.
And I totally remember Space Ghost!

These guys should have won “America’s Got Talent” a few years ago. Instead, yet another singer won.

Can you imagine the set-up time involved, though?

And they had to do it on a specially built outdoor stage. One of the judges (Howey Mandel?) kept saying that he thought the awesomeness of the act and their performance was lost on TV viewers. One of those “you have to be here to believe it” things.

I imagine the live experience would have been MUCH more visceral.

So is that a mesh suit or what?
We saw Lewis Black perform at the Casino at Hampton Beach, ere was a terrible lightning storm and I was sure his live mike was going to get him fried. He was mind-blowingly funny, though.

A heavy-duty mesh suit, like high-voltage linemen sometimes wear. Has to be grounded, though.
