Yesterday, Rich brought home a box of mine, full of old photos, cards, and letters from Way-Back Land. They’d been in storage at the kung-fu studio for the past eight years. Silly notes from girlfriends in junior high school (Omigawd!), sappy love notes from old boyfriends, photos from before the digital age, my high school diploma, figure-skating photos, ribbons, and medals, and some important papers I’d thought were lost.

One great find, floating out by itself? Photographic proof of the time I crab-walked on my butt out to the tip of a dangerous prominence of the Grand Canyon’s south rim, and dangled my legs over the edge. My boyfriend at the time (1997) took pics. This is between Yavapai Point and Mather Point. Had to climb over a fence to do it, and find my way out there, but nobody bothered me. Scariest part? Feeling gusts of wind rising up, messing with my sense of balance.
