Hubby & I live off the grid in the mountains an hour east of San Diego at about 4,600 feet. We generally hate civilization and stay as far away from it as possible.
Interests: rocks, hiking, cooking, food, reading, cats, nature, mountains, kung fu, oil painting, tai chi, quantum mechanics, particle physics, knives, swords, cocktail hour

Hi, nice to meet you !
Likewise! Thanks for stopping by!
You folks seem like kindred spirits. Mine’s Aikido, though: used to be Kung-Fu, but things change.
Fox does look like a Gray, to me, with the black-tipped tail and all.
Just reading around some of your comments and quotes, it seems like I should at least say “hello.”
Well, hi there. I just took a quick look at your blog. You seem pretty interesting yourself. Thanks for checking in!
Hello..just checking around..the quote by Mencken is interesting to me (his connection with W.J. Bryan is interesting to read on)..the quote is interesting to me only when it is tongue in cheek..the reality of what is said there is a reason to recognize things and deal with them..forgetting politics..I will always think it is a shame..anything is hungry..anything is thirsty..or degraded so by having to drink fouled water..that any species is used exploitively without having the opportunity to live fully and thus contribute..the resources spent and the total cost of war is inexcusable..I will not be ‘beating a dead horse’ until war is a forgotten memory..here is a quote I did the other night after conversing with C. ‘Facing the greatest temptation or stiff adversity is a worthy challenge when met with honor’..with that..I shall play some music..have a wonderful day..Peace Tony
I very much agree… how much of it all is just a red herring?
Excellent quote. Thanks for sharing it with me.
Take care.
Hi, Kim! I am lol’ing about you generally hating people. I know the feeling. I just was at Vox Diaspora and saw your comment to check your profile! It’s a good one!
Heehee! I’m not joking, if I put it in my profile! (Although, I do love all my electronic pen-pals)
Electronic penpals are just perfect! Not too close, not too far away!
Hi, we live north of San Diego on the coast, but live on the edge of a canyon and have many trails and a lake nearby at Mt. Calavera. – This is good since we have a rescue mutt. Loners, writers, photography and hiking around. Are you out 94? Dulzura, perhaps? All nice country out there. Like the handcuffs, I’m a CSI, Burn Notice, NCIS and Law and Order fan – not into the other stuff either.
Well, hi! We’re a bit north and higher up in elevation than 94 and Dulzura, but not very far as the crow flies. It is a gorgeous area. Good mix of desert, mountains, and the beach is close by, too. All of our cats have been rescues as well. Thanks for writing!

+1
I seem to like just about everything Mencken had to say.
Excellent quote!
Hi – I cracked up at your “we generally hate people” statement. Living in the crazily overcrowded and busy Baltimore area, Lee and I are always frazzled and frustrated with being out in the masses and talking about how we’d love to move somewhere more remote. We just haven’t figured out how to do that and pay the bills at the same time yet : ). Your oil paintings are beautiful – my favorite is “Faerie Sun.” Nice to meet you and thanks so much for visiting Hawleyville! I will definitely be back : )!
That is the tough part – living in the country, yet still making a living. We used to commute 500 miles a week to San Diego.
Thanks for taking a stroll-through!
You have a very interesting site. I likey. Your paintings are cool too. Do you use the “zillion dots” technique (there’s probably an artsy fartsy term for it like ‘pointilism’ or something) or is that just your particular approach to the ones I noticed?
Thankee! It’s not exactly pointillism (you had it right), but it is similar. The moth wing painting would actually be closest to true pointillism.
Hello, You have nice blog here. Love the quote btw. God Bless U:)
Why, thank you! I’m always amazed that anyone reads it…
Awesome blog! Came across on google image searches,, you seem uber cool
