This is our dear, departed Kabuki, the mighty hunter. It was a VERY hot day, so we applied some of our hot-weather tricks to the poor creature. Namely, draping a wet dish towel over his torso. As you can see, he didn’t seem to mind.

He is beautiful and it’s no wonder he was a mighty hunter! Look at those paws! They are monstrous and excellent weapons!
He ate everything, too, and neatly. Even the lizards. Once he brought in a bat (I saved it). Once he came in with TWO mice in his mouth – one alive, one dead. I do know that moles must taste terrible. Once he caught one, and kept trying to eat it, but every time he’d take a bite, he’d spit and “pew pew” with his tongue!
Aw, he is gorgous! He had a good life, I bet.
When Ives had a fever the first week we brought him home from the shelter (106.5, the vet wasn’t sure he was going to make it) they had us put rubbing alcohol on cotton to apply to his paws which I guess helps to bring down the temperature just a bit.
They lose a lot of heat through their paws. If you ever see them turn blue, he’s probably in shock.
