“Spring forward, Fall back.” So set your clocks one hour forward, if you haven’t already. If you live in a part of the world where they don’t observe this nonsense, send me your address, ’cause I’m considering moving. Arizona doesn’t mess with “savings” time. Stupid concept, proven to not save energy at all, yet still observed in most of the U.S.
~sigh~

If I remember the reasoning rightly, it was supposed to give customers more time to visit shops, or some such idiocy. What a completely pointless exercise it is.
My remembrance is that they started it during WWII, to increase the daylight working hours for manufacturing. I’ve also heard it was for farmers, same reason. But we are no longer an agricultural society, and WWII is long over.
… and all tractors have headlights on them. I go to work at 10:30pm and often see tractors in the fields plowing.
Well, I like daylight savings time. What I don’t like is the November 6 through yesterday, the not-daylight-savings-time, when it gets dark absurdly early and my ride home from work would be in the dark. I *hate* taking Muni in the dark.
I too, hated still being stuck in the office when it was black out. It’s just WRONG!
But Rich has an early job that gets him up at 5:00am three days a week. Just when it’s starting to get light out at that time, we get set back into darkness again. Kind of a bummer for him.
On the West Coast where we have long, lingering sunsets, DST is pointless, at least in the early days of spring. But for people living on the East Coast and Midwest where they have brutally short days and long, dark, freezing nights, it’s nice to see sunlight when you’re driving home.
That said, it was horrible getting up this morning when there was no sun out. (I had to let the dog out at 6 a.m.) Now, at 1:00, I feel like a zombie. And speaking of zombies, I probably won’t be able to stay awake to watch “The Walking Dead” tonight. Zzzzz.
See? I screws the early-morning people. It’s no fun working past dark, but it’s even less fun getting up in the freezing dark.
Go back and read my post! You’ll see just how vital DST is … for me anyway, lol.
It works out much better for people who work late, than for people who work early…
